A great link about blogs and e-journals. We are doing some of these things already so it is good to hear we are on the right track!

Interesting viewing. Two of the teachers commented on the videos and process which I guess the pen and paper portfolios are using showcasing skills the children have mastered and get 10/10 for. Where as the blogs are a medium that children feel comfortable to try their best and get feedback on to improve their learning further. It is important that we continue to now teach children to more naturally comment on others blogs. They all love it when a parent or teacher comments so why not have them making comments as well? I have noticed having home learning tasks surrounding the blog has opened this up and got children moving around others to make positive comments on each others learning. Edublog is something I hadn't heard of so will go and check that out now and see what it has to offer. Great to see that we are on the same track and the purposes of our individual and class blogs are similiar. To showcase the learning beyond the four walls of the classroom.
ReplyDeleteWas really interesting viewing, and really liked seeing the links between what we are doing and what they are doing. I really liked seeing how the first teacher is getting her students to first write what the learning intention was and then listing the different things that they did to show that they have achieved the learning intention. This is definately where i want to head next with my class, so i am enabling my students to be even more reflective about their learning. Was great to hear her say that she gets students to do this about 8 times a term which is very manageable in our classes.
