PD with Te Kowhai School

It was great to meet up today at Te Kowhai school and discuss iPads and e-Learning with their teachers.

Thank you to the teachers who "took a risk" and started a discussion around a topic that was of interest to them. A big thanks to ALL teachers who participated in a range of conversations around the use of devices and how they help/support our children with their learning.

We had discussions around: QR codes, 'escaping the iPad', global communities, show me app, symbaloo, brainpop, hippo remote, class dojo and much more!

Let's share something we learnt or found interesting in either a comment on this post or on your own teacher blog.

Teaching Typing Skills

Here is a link to a sqworl that has a huge selection of typing interactives to use with your classes.  I use these during my handwriting rotations as well as getting the children to write or reply to comments on their blogs.

Master Class on Story telling apps

This week's master class was amazing! Thanks to all staff who turned up to share and learn!

The story telling apps we shared were:
  • sock puppets
  • puppetpals
  • toontastic
  • book creator
also:
  • big cat collins books
Have a go at using one of these apps. Tell us how you went. How did you integrate the app into your existing programme? How else could you use this app?

(PS - read Danielle's blog for her post on these apps)

Master Class Survey Results

Click on the photos to make them bigger (especially the first one with writing).

Thank you to the 11 staff members who completed this survey. As you can see there are lots' of topics for discussion! The major topic being iPads and the effective use of these.

We are nearly 50/50 split for before or after school sessions so we may need to cater for both groups and hold both sessions. Either alternate or have the same session on twice that day.
