I found this great website with helpful tips on how to blog!! I'm going to sit done and have a good read through and see what helpful tips I can use for my class blog!!!
ICT Challenge
Use your flip video to record children's learning in your classroom.
Upload your video to your class blog (or children's individual blog).
Middle and senior teachers - get your ICT leaders to record children as well and then they can upload their videos to their e-portfolios.
Junior teachers - if you want to use senior ICT leaders to video chn just ask.
EXTRA... post a reflection on your teacher e-portfolio. How are you using the flip in your classroom? How are you going? What is working well? What are your next steps of learning?

Using Flip Videos in the classroom
Flip videos
- How to use them - set up, change setting for video etc
- storage/security/student use
- Model one way of using a flip video in maths
- How to use them effectively in the classroom - share ideas
- Practice taking a video of a teacher
- Upload onto your teacher e-portfolio (type a message while video is uploading)
- ICT challenge
- Reflection on teacher e-portfolio
Extra Ideas on how to use a flip video in our classroom....
•Math: record the steps of a math problem with explanations; find math in nature; find math in everyday items
•Act out a scene from a book; narrate a story; record students reading poetry for a virtual poetry jam; oral communication – turn a persuasive essay into a commercial
•Science: demo/create ‘how-to’s for experiments; record labs/dissections/demonstrations
•Social Studies: conduct an interview of a famous person from history/person from another culture; conduct “man on the street” interviews based on history/cultures; re-create a famous speech; create a commercial – “why you should visit…”
•Performing Arts: demonstrate basics of an instrument/parts/hand positioning; create a warm-up video for others to follow along; record yourself and critique
•PE: demonstrate rules of a game; make a workout video
•Health: create a video on making/maintaining friendships/interview kids about what they eat for lunch at school;

ICT Challenge #2
Good morning all
Thank you for your participation in the moderation session with the Pukete staff yesterday. It sounded like a very useful session to confirm we are on the right, or at least same track. It was also great to see some sharing of resources happening.
I would be interested to know if anything interesting, concerning or exciting emerged from the session. If you have any new wonderings about written language you could post them on your blog.
Let me know your thoughts.
Kia pai to ra.
Marcus
Therefore... This weeks ICT challenge is... brought to you from Marcus...
Post a reflection of your thoughts on your e-portfolio!!! We look forward to reading your reflections! :)

Jessica shared the timer on Interwrite - it can be used for group rotations, coming to the mat in a certain amount of time, packing up etc.
Making your blog private...
She then asked me... "Could my blog show up here?"
I have now remembered that you can make your blog private by going to settings and changing the 2 questions below to NO.

NEXT STEPS...1. Create your own digital portfolio.
The purpose of your portfolio will be to reflect on your ICT journey this year and many more years to follow!!! :)2. Add your questions to our on-line wall "What questions do you have?" (see a previous post)
Some things to think about...
Should we 'share' our e-portfolios within the wider community?

Staff Meeting #1
Why are we using them? The PURPOSE...???
Introducing the e-Portfolio on Prezi

OUR AIM...
Our aim will be for the students to create an electronic record of their learning – reflective, including work samples and written or oral reflections.
Challenges....
1. From my experience the hardest part is encouraging thoughtful reflection in the children. Getting work, photographing work samples and adding text etc is the easy part.
2. Making the most out of the weekly ICT time
3. Integrating digital portfolios into the classroom programme
4. Capturing those 'magic' moments - when children grasp a concept/skill, show success in achieving their goals etc, how do we capture this moment and post (or get children to post it) onto their blogs.
5. learning how to set a blog was my first step. I learnt alongside the children!!! Using the more able children and them encouraging them to teach others was beneficial.
Where to from here?
- How to include the whole school in the process?
- Sharing the purpose of these blogs/portfolios with children.
- Which tool to use? If blogs, how to manage with younger children (passwords etc)
- How to encourage the language of reflection required with the students?
- How to include goal setting?
- Adding feedback from teachers/parents/students.
